The service temperature for Corundum Bricks can reach up to 1800°C. Corundum Bricks can be used in nearly all fields of industrial application where extreme high temperature and increased resistance against aggressive slags and atmospheres are necessary. Such properties or features of Corundum Bricks are necessary especially in the chemical industry and for the production of carbon black. The addition of chromium oxide, zirconium oxide, and phosphates gives the bricks excellent structural flexibility, which is required for ash melting furnaces and gas reactors in incinerators.
Corundum bricks with a 99 % Al₂O₃content are also resistant at high operating temperatures in CO atmoshperes and hydrogenous atmospheres. They are used in furnaces for the chemical and petrochemical industry under strongly reducing conditions.
